Open The Prism

Privacy policy

Last updated 22 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information The Prism collects, why we use it, who we share it with and what you can do about it. The Prism is responsible for your information. You can reach us at mo@theprismai.com.

What we collect

Why we use it

Ads and cookies

The app does not use cookies to track you. It keeps your sign-in and a few preferences, such as light or dark mode, in your browser's local storage, and sets one short-lived cookie while you sign in with Google.

On the Free plan, and on our public rankings and essay pages, ads are served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technology to show ads and measure them. Visitors in the UK and the EEA are asked for consent before ads are personalised, and can change that choice at any time. Plus and Pro accounts do not see ads in the app, and the ad code is never loaded for them.

You can read how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and turn off personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.

Some images, such as news thumbnails, load from other websites, which see your IP address when they do.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run The Prism for us, under contracts that require them to protect it:

We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.

Where it is stored

Some of our providers store or process information outside the UK, including in the United States. When they do, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as adequacy regulations or approved contract terms.

How long we keep it

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to receive a copy to take elsewhere. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email mo@theprismai.com and we will reply within a month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

The Prism is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes here, and tell you by email or in the app if they matter to you.
